Capt. JOHN PEARCE an expatriate Englishman has been honing his boating and fishing skills for the last 35 years, the last 17 years in Thailand, which is now his adopted home. His exploits in the Phuket waters have become well known and John and his crew from REEL HOOKER are considered to be one of the top charter outfits around Asia. John holds several local records, among them most sailfish in one day (21), most wahoo in a day (50), landed three black marlin over 400lb in Phuket waters and excels in catching large Giant Trevally. Since 2001 John has spent a lot of time re-searching the Andaman island’s(India) where he has made a big name for himself catching some very big fish releasing several marlin between 400-800lb and has found a very good way of targeting Giant Trevally over there the best day 71 released. 2006 was probably the best season so far as John has found his way around the islands and found some good marlin spots. John has appeared in several REX HUHT FISHING ADVENTURES for TV, many promotional video’s both local and for abroad and has been well written about by several top fishing journalists around the world. During his spare time John has written story’s of his exploits for various fishing magazines around Asia, United Kingdom, Australia and America.

For twelve years John was Chairman of the PHUKET INTERNATIONAL FISHING TOURNAMENT.
John is a member of IGFA and is a hard line campaigner for the release of all BILLFISH unless for record purpose and does his best to help with the environment.
John is a very keen guide and is happy to help anyone from experienced to novice angler and is especially helpful with children.

During 2004 JOHN took some time to travel to some of the other great fishing locations around the world to further his knowledge about catching big marlin (used to great effect in Andaman’s) fishing Africa, some tournaments in Bermuda where he saw two 1000lb marlin caught and trying his luck for giant blue-fin tuna in Spain with Dennis Braid (BRAID PROCUCTS) During these travels John was lucky enough to catch a 1076lb Blue Marlin in Ghana Africa breaking the local record by some 46lb and a fantastic 313lb Yellow fin Tuna the very next day. This fish missed the Ghana record by 1lb but it stands as the men’s record. Most people don’t get to see one 1000lb marlin caught John has seen three.
